The façade is the element of a building that makes the first decisive impression.
We revisted one of our project 6 years after the villa was completed. We’ll give you here a quick summary on our impressions.
The façade in Octobre 2010.
A wooden façade is always unique and will thrill anybody who has an affinity with wood with its fascinating qualities: natural variety, live appearance, weather resistance, excellent constructional and ecological qualities, allowing speedy construction.
Thanks to the aforementioned qualities, wooden façades are acquiring a reputation of prestige, not least because their aesthetic value is increasingly acknowledged in modern architectural approaches.
Naturally wooden facades ages: The South facaing façade is naturally more exposed to the sun and UV then the North. A wooden façade is a bit like your facial skin. Teh top your nose is also more exposed to sun than your cheeks. Our aim in this Villa project was to maintain a unified look, a façade that has still a “face” after a couple of years. Here are some impressions after 6 years of aging.
In the case of our project, we are impressed how well the façade is looking.
The north side is impeccable. Even the window corners are nice and homogeneous.
The front was only damaged by a cleaner, who cleaned with his kärcher the aluminium and by accident highpressured into the wooden façade. Our client decided to let it look and age and observes. An untrained eye woudln’t even notice.
Here comes the worst corner we found. Obvisouly this is the corner most affected by weather: sun and wind. However for 6 years, this is not much and for the untrained eye probably not even noticeable.
